Sessions

Dr. ROBERT SCHLEIP

Fascial contributions to athletic performance, tissue resilience and injury prevention.
Recent insights from the fascia research field.

The international field of fascia research provided an avalanche of new insights during the last few years, which offer fascinating implications for athletic trainers, strength and conditioning coaches, fitness experts, and related health professions.

Highlights include:

  • The human iliotibial band as a kinetic storage device
  • Why the vast majority of sports related overload injuries affect collagenous tissue elements
  • Different adaptation thresholds between intramuscular and tendinous connective tissues
  • Best training protocols for tendon strengthening
  • Three styles of kinetic interaction between tendon and muscles: Energy conservation, power amplification, power attenuation.

KEVIN HENDRY

Mobility + Movement Solutions for the Mismatch Lifestyle

Learning Objectives

  • Learn why many of the illnesses that we confront today are mismatch diseases; ailments that occur because our bodies are inadequately adapted to the environments in which we now live.
  • Grasp an innovative approach to optimal body posture that will allow you to identify when a postural fault is harmless versus harmful.
  • Understand why mobility restrictions in the body can have vast health consequences over time.
  • Using low back pain as an example, appreciate how an injury or site of pain is best treated from a 3-dimensional perspective.
  • Experience self-myofascial release and movement interventions using a systems based perspective to enhance your health and well being throughout your lifetime.

MICHOL DALCOURT

How to be Farm Strong – What made traditional farm kids so strong

Objectives:

  • Compare / Contrast the differences between farm movements and common ‘gym’ movements
  • Uncover the science as to why ‘farm’ types of loading are so significant and essential to the body’s adaptations
  • Learn how to incorporate the best out of ‘farm’ loading and gym loading to achieve a body which is more resilienceand more unbreakable
  • Learn drills and protocols: including deep core activation, odd position strength, dead strength, strength endurance, power conversion and more

CHAD BENSON

Building All Ages Athleticism: Optimizing Myofascia & Myofibrils with Strength
Complexes

Sport science has proven the effectiveness of combining heavy strength training with biomechanically similar plyometric or explosive power movements. Based on current fascial research & years of experience, this session will review the research & introduce practical methods to optimize movement through the spring / myofascia & contractile / myofibrils systems.

Highlights include:

  • Review complex training & its benefits
  • Using movement quickness to activate the nervous system
  • Learn how to program movement complexes – combining traditional strength with loaded movement & SAQ training
  • Programming for life, fitness & performance

Recover & Regenerate: Guiding the success of your Clients/Participants

Recovery and regeneration is a necessity whether you’re a Pro/Amateur athlete or dedicated gym-goer. This session will focus on the ways in which recovery can be implemented into the training plan of the everyday athlete. With the ever-growing trend in fitness being pushing people to the edge of training often, we as fitness professionals have to be armed with information in order to help guide our athletes/clients through recovery and regeneration to avoid over-training. Focusing on the long game and following a flexible plan around a lifestyle of true health and wellness should always be out top priority!

Learning Objectives:

  1. Have a deeper understanding of how to program a weekly schedule for an Athlete/client/participant that can help avoid over-training.
  2. Have a deeper understanding of subjective & objective tools to help diagnose readiness.
